The Spanish longboat Carmen was built in 1850. With a weight of 250 tons, she dedicated her career to commercial transport through the Mediterranean, competing with the large steamships and subsisting on them thanks to the lower cost of sufflete. Rigged as a schooner, with crabs and scandalous, it receives the denomination of pailebote or PILOT-BOAT, which were small little tackles with little rigging used by some port pilots as pilot boats.
